PickBadger Research Desk

Specification desk · sourcing and comparison

The PickBadger Research Desk produces source-only product analyses. It reads manufacturer datasheets, labels, service terms and product pages, records the URL and date behind material figures, and leaves a visible gap whenever a claim cannot be traced to the company that publishes it.

What this byline is qualified to assess

  • Manufacturer datasheet and product-page sourcing
  • Like-for-like specification comparison within a product line
  • Published-claim verification and dating
  • Identifying figures a manufacturer does not publish

What this byline covers

The research desk is not a tester. Nobody at PickBadger has handled the products currently on this site, and no review here reports a measurement, a duration of use, or an outcome from ownership.

What the desk does do is narrower and checkable:

  • Every figure in a spec table is taken from the manufacturer’s own published material — a datasheet, a spec tab, or a product page — and carries the URL and the date it was retrieved.
  • A figure published for a neighbouring model is never carried across to fill a gap. Where a manufacturer does not publish something, the cell reads TODO: verify and the gap is named in the review.
  • Comparisons are drawn only between products whose figures come from their own makers, so a table never mixes a sourced number with an estimated one.
  • Limitations are stated at the same length as strengths. The content schema refuses to build a review whose cons column is shorter than its pros column.

Why this is an organisational byline

E-E-A-T is not a byline; it is a stated, checkable basis for an assessment. An organisational desk can honestly stand behind sourcing. It cannot stand behind a numeric score or a judgement about how a product performs in use. Those require a named person who can state the assessment basis.

Source-only reviews therefore publish the available evidence without a rating. If PickBadger later performs a qualified hands-on assessment, that review receives the named reviewer, method and score that belong to that work.

Commercial relationship

PickBadger runs paid advertising campaigns for every brand currently covered on this site. That is a material connection beyond affiliate commission and it is disclosed above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one. No page on this site claims that its products were chosen independently, because they were not.
